Why endure through the coffee jitters when you’ve got the energizing, magical powers of maca waiting to make you feel amazing? Maca, a hearty root vegetable native to the Andean mountains of Peru, has been used as an effective way to boost energy and endurance for many a century, and nourishes the body with macro and micro nutrition for a more sustainably energizing effect that is more gentle on the adrenals. Give it a try in this delicious green smoothie recipe which balances the nutty, malty flavor of maca root with creamy banana and almond milk, sweet blueberries, spicy cinnamon, and a hidden dose of spinach (you won’t even taste it – promise!).
- 1 whole banana, frozen
- 25 cups blueberries, frozen
- 1 cup spinach, fresh raw
- 1 cup raw almond milk, unsweetened
- .25 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 heaping tablespoon maca powder
- Place all of the ingredients in a high speed blender. I use a VitaMix because it is so thorough at blending, but any blender will do. Blend for about 45 seconds, or until desired consistency is reached. Pour the smoothie into your favorite glass.
