Dreena Burton has been vegan since ’95, when little was known about eating and cooking vegan. Not long after graduating with her business degree and working in the marketing field, she followed her true passion of creating recipes. The Everyday Vegan was her first cookbook, inspired after her father-in-law also adopted a plant-based diet to reverse his heart disease. After having the first of her three children, Dreena wrote Vive le Vegan!, which represented her journey as a mom, and offered more wholesome, easy recipes. Then came eat, drink & be vegan, a celebratory vegan cookbook, which became very popular for its entire chapter on hummus, as well as inventive flavor combinations and a mix of wheat-free and gluten-free recipes. Always passionate about creating recipes, Dreena is an advocate of the use of «vegan basics» — beans, nuts, seeds, whole-grains and whole-grain products, and fruits and vegetables. In her fourth and newest cookbook, «»Let Them Eat Vegan: 200 Delicious Plant-Powered Recipes for the Whole Family»», Dreena takes those whole-foods vegan ‘basics’ and turns them into outstanding meals and snacks to plant-power your entire family! You won’t find any white flour or white sugar in this book, and also no vegan substitutes like vegan cream cheese, sour cream, or vegan meats. All recipes are wheat-free or gluten-free, with many soy-free options, and a sprinkling of raw dishes for good measure! Dreena shares more of her recipes, cooking tips, and experiences as a vegan mom-of-three at Plant Powered Kitchen
